Husqvarna's Soff-Cut® saws are a patented solution designed for Ultra Early Entry™ concrete sawing, allowing contractors to cut concrete within one to two hours before the final set. This innovative system minimizes the risk of random cracking, one of the most costly and frustrating issues in concrete work.

With high production rates and the ability to pour and cut on the same day, Soff-Cut® saws offer unmatched efficiency. Their shallow cutting depths create precise, straight control joints, making them an essential tool for concrete professionals.

The Soff-Cut® Process: Preventing Random Cracking

Random cracking is a significant challenge for concrete contractors, leading to wasted time, increased costs, and potential damage to a contractor's reputation. The key to preventing random cracks is timing, and Husqvarna's Soff-Cut® system ensures optimal joint placement during the critical early curing phase.

By incorporating control joints as part of the finishing process, contractors can direct where concrete will naturally crack, preventing uncontrolled fractures.

Understanding the Green Zone™

The Green Zone™ is the optimal window for cutting concrete, occurring within the first two hours after finishing and before the final set. During this time, the concrete is still curing and has not yet developed internal stresses that cause random cracking.

To determine if concrete is in the Green Zone™, follow these steps:

• Touch the surface – It should feel firm but not fully hardened.

• Step on the slab – If it leaves an impression, it's too early to cut.

• Roll the Soff-Cut® saw onto the surface – If the slab supports the saw without indentation, it's ready for cutting.

The Green Zone is approximately 2 hours after placing and finishing

By cutting in the Green Zone™, Husqvarna Soff-Cut® saws achieve precise joints with minimal depth, enhancing aggregate interlock and reducing the need for excessive joint filler.

Choosing the Right Husqvarna Soff-Cut® Saw

Husqvarna offers two primary categories of Soff-Cut® saws: push saws and self-propelled saws. Choosing the right model depends on the size and scope of the concrete project:

• For small slabs like patios or sidewalks, a compact and lightweight saw such as the Husqvarna X150 is ideal.

• For large-scale projects like airport runways or highways, a high-powered Soff-Cut® saw like the Husqvarna X5000 is recommended.
