Choosing The Right Diamond Blade for Your Saw:
Material Hardness & Aggregate
Diamond blades are manufactured with different segment bonds, ranging from soft to hard. To get the most out of your blade, the bond should be the inverse of the material you’re cutting. Harder materials like granite, stone, or brick cut best with a softer-bonded blade—such as our Brick Ripper—so the bond wears away and exposes fresh diamonds more quickly. Softer materials like asphalt or green concrete require a harder-bonded blade—such as our Boss Blade—to prevent premature segment wear. Also consider the aggregate in the material (flint, limestone, river rock, etc.), as it affects blade life and performance.
Equipment Power & RPM
Your saw’s horsepower directly impacts blade performance and lifespan. Higher horsepower saws often require blades with a higher diamond concentration to withstand the load. Match the blade’s specifications to your saw’s maximum horsepower and recommended operating RPM. Running a blade too fast can cause loss of tension—both a safety hazard and a costly setback.
