In a year that could use a bright spot, we have been doing our part in trying to turn that around. We have always been active in our community, but this year we needed to try and find a new way to make a difference from a distance. We are proud to support the following organizations this holiday season in hopes to help provide a nice holiday season to those in our community.
Bel Air Holiday Sharing Program
This program was initiated by the teachers at Bel Air Elementary in Mounds View, MN as a response to the growing concerns about the welfare of all Bel Air children. This successful program helps an average of 250 students each year and the number continues to grow. Holiday Sharing provides three clothing items for each child plus a package of underwear and a package of socks. Items often include warm coats, boots, snow pants, pajamas, and sweaters. These clothing items are available to children attending Bel Air Elementary plus any of their siblings from birth through high school. Additionally, they provide funds to contribute to a holiday meal for the family.
Second Harvest Heartland
Our donation was matched so together with the Crocus Foundation we provided 600 meals! Hunger doesn’t wait. While COVID-19 affects our community, helping our neighbors experiencing hunger is more necessary than ever. Lost work and an uncertain economy mean families are missing meals. Our donation helps ensure our neighbors experiencing hunger get the food and support they need in the coming winter months. Our gift offers hope and comfort to neighbors like Savannah, whose partner was recently laid off. She is feeling a sense of relief during these uncertain times after visiting a local drive-through food distribution. “It takes the toll and anxiety off of those who sometimes don't know where our next meal is coming from,” she said. “Thank you so much.”
Holiday Hope Community Thread
This program connects people in need of those willing to provide support during the holidays. Low-income families, older adults, and adults with disabilities are matched with sponsors who provide individually chosen gifts and a holiday meal. Every year, over 400 local households benefit from the generosity of the community. We are sponsoring two families of 3-4 members each.
